Problem referencing map

  • I made an export of a TK25 of the new Baden Wuertemberg CD (with grid markings on it).

Then i try to reference the same map and all the Waypoint are shifted about 100m. For example a crossroad on the original map is 100m further way on the exported and referenced map.

Can can anyone explain this phenomena?

    regards,
    Michel

  • Michel,

watch the datum your grid is printed in to match the datum you set when
    importing the map to TTQV.

What cal mode do you use ?

Both Potsdam, When i reference on WGS84, the point are 100m from each other. If i use Potsdam ,they are over 200m from each other.

I'm using the 2x2 reference. The map is relative small. In some of the older versions of QV it was possible to make the map small (zoom out) on the screen and export it. When you export it, you could get a large map as a bmp file. When i do this now, i only get a small map as a bmp.

My guess is, your settings are wrong or the grid exported is not actualy what you have set it to.

Sorry, I do not get the relation of this to your problem.
In general, yes, there are maps, where the output is limited.

Could be. I checked it several times. The same problem occurs when you use free calibration and the map is small and the reference point are close to each other.

I did the same several times with the 1:50K maps (in Thueringen), without problem. I did the same with a 1:50K of the same area in BW and the same problem. All point shift. Referenced them with Potsdam and use the values at the grid lines, generated by QV.

I did the same with the Navtec map (WGS84), this works without a problem.

That the reference point/lines are (to) close, because the map is small. exporting a zoomed out map used to work with the German 1:50K and 200K maps. I still have several examples of those exports.

  • Michel,

If you calibrate a map exported from an other software, screenshot size,
which has an entire grid square and the map is of big scale (1:50.000 and better) all you need is 2x2 calibration. If the grid square covers only a small portion of the map and not the entire map, the errors may become bigger.

If you find errors in maps exported from TTQV:
install the latest TTQV update, delete the maps (we are talking about whatever TOp50 version maps) reimport them, do the export again.

In TTQV Export: If reference lines of a grid are to close, you may select a grid width that fits your needs manually.

Through your posts, I never know when you are talking about the problem is related to importing maps to TTQV or to using exports of TTQV maps in other software. Please separate these things clearly so I know what we are talking about.

Again: yes, with certain maps, export of zoomed out maps is limited with TTQV, whether previous versions did this accidently or not.

    Hope this makes things clearer!

  • This is what happened:

I took the new BW 1:25K CD. Enabled the gid lines. Exported the map to a BMP.

That took that exported bmp file and referenced it with Potsdam Datum and a 2x3 grid.

Then i took a point of the new referenced map (a crossroad), pressed the right mouse button and loaded the original BW 1:25K CD. These point are +/-100m from each other.

I did the same with a export of the same area with the Navtech map. Grids on. Export to BMP. referenced the BMP. All in WGS84. The maps match exactly. What is the difference? WGS84 vs Potdam.
