• I have just upgraded? to QV 6 and loaded onto a new computer, (Win 7) however the Russian maps I purchased from you a couple of years ago are not seamless (Egypt, Libya & Tunisia, )

How do I get these maps to open the next map automatically QV 6 as they did in TTQV4.

I have many tracks & way points in these countries that I need to get into QV6 soon as I am off on my travels again very soon, but cannot seem to get the separate maps to open automatically!

Please note that I am a novice with this stuff & definately not an advanced user!!

    thanks

    Andy

    Thanks

  • How do I get these maps to open the next map automatically QV 6 as they did in TTQV4.

    Dear Andy,
the next applicable map should automatically appear in the GPS-Online mode, however I did not use that function so far. The function as it is in TTQV4 is not available any more by scrolling in offline mode to the next map.
This information was mentioned from Tom some time ago and I hope it will work fine according your demands.

  • Thanks for the info, as long as it works in GPS online mode, that shouldnt be too much of a problem, as I dont want too keep opening additional maps when Im driving!

I hope it does as I wont be able to try it until I get to Libya!!

    Thanks again, Andy

    Hi Andy,
I expect Tom or someone else confirms that it works in practise.

As you are heading towards Libya. I used the russion maps in Libya which were very accurate - better than the american army maps.
My last trip to Libya was in 2010 before the civil war began. I would be happy to hear from your experience about safety in the region akakus, Erg Ubari, Erg Murzuq, Waw en Namus if you are travelling in this region.

    take care
    Harry

edit FYI, I have just realized that I bought the russian map as one entire map and not many separate sheets, which is of advantage nevertheless QV6 can manage it to choose the follower map or not.

  • Hi harry,

yes its the russian maps that I have got, I purchased them fro touratec 4 or 5 years ago, and they are not seamless.

I have driven Libya / egypt several times, since 2007, the last time was jan & feb this year (post Gadaffi) but this was using TTQV 4 on my old toughbook, which was unfortunately stolen back here in UK.

I have a new toughbook & have put QV 6 on it, hence my question, as I have many tracks & WPTs that i want to take with me!

and I am trying to get used to QV6! ?(

    Cheers, Andy

BTW Libya, all over the country (except perhaps Kufra) was fine earlier this year...... no police escort, go where you like, we had no problems at all with the security situation, all the people we met were VERY friendly

We didnt go to Kufra as there was still a bit of trouble there in Feb, but the rest of the country was fine!

  • Hi Andy,

if you've enough disk space you can use QV6 and QV4 parallel - the last downloads for v4 Update TTQV 4.0.133 should still work.

The goal should be that QV6 replaces TTQV4 and you use only the new Version which will get updates and new features. But if you want to have a fallback or own some maps which will not work in later qv version you may still keep your v4 installation and databases.
