maximum size of the map

  • Dear sir.

I need to know what is the maximum size of the map can be imported in ttqv.

I try to import a map of 50mb size but the program display this error: insufficient main memory.

    Thank you

  • Hi Valerio,

the size of the file does not indicate the real size of the map. I guess you are trying to load a JPG map file, JPG is the worst possible format for a map file. Convert your map file to PNG and reduce the colors to 256, then try again.

  • Hi Valerio,
please take also a look at a translated thread of jockel a far years ago:

So the filezise isn`t the problem. It`s the color deeph or the fileformat. If you for example use a tile format like ecw, the maps can be as large as you want. I have, for example, some ecw maps with a mapsize over 50GB.

  • It`s the color deeph or the fileformat.

Just to make it clear: TTQV4 and also QV7 are 32Bit Programms with a limitation of using in ram. The higher-ranking problem is the high memory use of your given format. So you have diffrent chances to reduce the memory use of your map:
    1.) Lower the resolution,
2.) lower the color deep or
3.) change the file format to a tile format like ecw.
