Error: QVError: 11 GE capture Division by zero

  • Hello Jokel,

This is what I get when trying to import a GE map.

In GE I do: File / Save / Save Image and save the file as test.jpg

    In TTQV 4.0.72 I do:

Maps / Import maps in Google Earth format (single jpeg; unchanged)

Next, I select the file as above and ckilck OK

Upon which I get the message:
"File exists. C:\Program files [...]\test.jpg do you want to overwrite the file?"

When I click Yes the program goes through the motions and shows the progress bar, then pops up another message: "File not found C:\Program files [...]\test.jpg"
Clicking OK ends the sequence with the message as in the title.

What is this all about? Can you please explain?

  • Hello Anton,

    Thanks for the reply.

    Ver 4.0.79 ? I've just updated from 4.0 to 4.0.72.
Damn, you wink and you miss an update :-)

    I use GE 4.0.2091 (beta) / Win XP 5.1 sp1

  • Hi,

there are sometimes problems reported, but we do not know why. It seems,
that depending on GE installation, the required functionality to process these
captures does not exist. Probably some kind of hardware dependant. So far
I have never seen similar problems when using GE3. Maybe uninstall/reinstall GE.

  • Jockel,

Thanks. But I still can't figure out what your software is trying to do.

While importing an existing file into QV , why is it trying to overwrite the file?

"File exists. C:\Program files [...]\test.jpg do you want to overwrite the file?"

"File exists. C:\Program files [...]\test.jpg do you want to overwrite the file?"

    - if you try to capture from GE, you should start the process giving the
file an other folder/name but whatever name of a file, already existing in this
very folder. Maybe create/use a folder outside of c:\program files\...
to avoid whatever "rights conflicting problems", create i. E. c:\capture\ and
    use this one.
    - "while importing an existing file...." The GE capture dialog creates files, then
imports them to TTQV. This module is not the right choice to import existing
    files to TTQV.

No! open GE, set screen, then configure the GE dialogue in TTQV and start!
    TTQV does all the rest!

  • Jockel,

I think I understand my wrong assumption now. But I tried again after reinstalling GE.

In the "Import maps from Google Earth" dialog box I named my file test1 and clicked OK. Now the error message was

"File not found. C:\Program files [...]\test1.jpg", followed by the familiar " division by zero"

I tried with GE running either in the OpenGL and DirectX modes.

  • Hello Roman,

you missed the following part of jockel's advice:

...create/use a folder outside of c:\program files\... to avoid whatever "rights conflicting problems", create i. E. c:\capture\ and use this one.

    hth (hope that helps)

  • Hi,

    Zitat von "Roman"

...I am wondering if there is another way around it or should I wait for QV 4.0.80?

    - waiting for 4.0.80 will not help. As far as we understand, these error
messages result from GE not providing whatever functionalities, required to
do the job. This depends on your Hardware and GE installation.
    - did you try to uninstall GE4 and install GE3 ?

  • Jockel,

You were right. I downgraded GE to ver 3.0.0762 and the divide by zero problem dissapeared.

Hope the next QV update will make it work with GE4.

    Thanks again.
