Sounds interesting... I had not thought that the export to the PathAway is actually some kind of "printing out"... I'll try that tomorrow !
Thanks...

You mean on the Desktop ?
I am using PathAway for Palm... ![]()
I was wondering if there was some kind of "batch processing" which would allow exporting all those G.E tiles as so many maps for PathAway... ![]()
Hello,
I am trying to export a quite nice map of Georgia wjich I succeeded in making from a successful import of Google Earth...
Now that VERY nice map, and quite big one, is probably too big for PathAway...
So what are the limits of this one ?
Alternatively, is there a way to break up that big one in as many small one and let PathAway do the equivalent of a qtl map ? I guess that the fact that that big map from G.E is actually a qtl map means that I should be able to do just that, but I wonder...
Thanks...
Hello again...
Well...
Without changing anything after getting one or two more errors, it worked this time... I don't understand why but this time it worked ! I guess that G.E must be temperamental... ![]()
Just finished installing Google Earth 3.0 and nothing changed...
Same as above...
StitchMaps is interesting but does not fulfill the same service for me... I would like the system from TTQV to work and it clearly is not working for whatever cause I cannot comprehend. Maybe the problem is with Google Earth, maybe it is in TTQV, maybe it is in my set-up...
Well, right now, it does not work ! ![]()
Once again you are saving my day !
Great many thanks !
I am still in Georgia but if I ever meet you, the first beer will be on me ! ![]()
I am using TTQV without any modifications that I am aware of... ![]()
As for GE, I'll give the version 3 a try it is still downloadable...
Thanks for the tip ! I was REALLY wondering what was wrong with me ! ![]()
Hello,
Now, I have a problem...
I don't seem to be able to import data from Google Earth any more...
Whenever I try importing a map from Google Earth of La Reunion Island, I do like this :
- I open Google Earth (Version Plus),
- Place myself in a position where I can see the whole island (Around 21°08' S, 55°31' E, Alt 90km)
- Open TTQV,
- Create a new table map,
- Click on "import map from Google Earth",
- Select "multi - automatic - 12000m - 1000X1000",
- Click on import...
Then I get a message of "Capture 1 Row, 1 Col" (Sounds strange ! There should be more than that !),
- Click OK,
- The display switches to Google Earth,
- I get a chime,
- Go back to TTQV to see a lot of error messages,
- "File Not Found" (Hey seems normal, I want to create that file !)
- If I click Ok, then I get a "QV_error 11" ge_capture division by zero,
- If I click "Ok" then the process freezes...
- If I press "Cancel" on the box where it says "Row 1 Col 1 Saving Image...", I then see an "Ok" button...
If I do it again, I will get the same sequence again...
I am using TTQV in the latest version and Google Earth Plus in OpenGL format (My "computer" does not support Direct X being emulated in a Mac machine...)
I managed it once with the pictures of Georgia which are in my first intervention in this thread, but I don't understand what I am doing wrong...
I just tried it again and got a "Cpature 7 row and 7 Col" messages (Which sounds better...) only to get again a file not found error message and the same sequence again...
Obviously I must be doing something wrong...
But what ?
Now that sounds easy even for a Mac-Addict ! ![]()
I'll give it a try ! Thanks...
Quote from "macnetz"Hello Gurvan,
If you mean the copyright messages . . .
You only have to set the font size to zero (in the registry)
Regards - Anton
Now, it will get complicated for me !
Did you already explain that one somewhere ? I'll check it out even if it is in German...
At least, I'll try...
Thanks...
Ok...
I'll try and post in case of troubles !
Thank you !!!
![]()
Ok... Thank you...
Anyway, it is still good enough for me ! ![]()
For the QTL file, thanks for the tip, I will try it ! Does it matter if the result is not square ? Or rectangular ?
Would it be possible to edit this one in graphic format in a future release ?
Hello,
I did try to make an import of a Map from Google Earth.
It worked... Not easily, but I managed it after a while (When I was trying to import I had more than 500 tiles, and got error messages...).
Now, I found out that there are some placement errors, is that known already ? I was still in 4.0.72 at the time I tried...
Here are a few pictures showing the problem...

General view...

A close up showing some placement error (Left & Top right on that picture... One can see that the road and the track are NOT fully superposed...)
I realized that by making a map of a complete country, more or less, I am probably inviting trouble, but... ![]()
Two additional questions, is it possible to remove the "Google Watermark" ? (I guess no for copyright problems...)
Is it possible to edit the QTL file which is created in such a case so as to suppress unuseful tiles ? That would be useful...
Thank you !![]()
Great job... I am using it to prepare my maps on a Mac with the Parallels Software...
Yes, it helps... ![]()
Thanks !
I'll do my testing later... And I'll let you know... ![]()
I was more hopping for IGN to give those maps for free... ![]()
After all, I have already paid them with my taxes ! ![]()
I will, as soon as I am back in France, try to check with a dealer if those are compatible. The main importer must be less than 5km away from my home !
But that would be a good solution, thanks !
Sounds interesting the maps I found on that English websitethanks to you...
The only thing I cannot understand is why do I have to buy French maps, from a British seller to use with a German software and eventually a Canadian one (Pathaway) ! ![]()
That does sound a bit extreme ! ![]()
But if those :
http://www.memory-map.co.uk/maps_france_onland_top100.htm
http://www.memory-map.fr/produit/memory-map/version-ign.php
can be used on a TTQV, then, why not ?
So, if I understand you correctly, if they are written 3 anywhere on them, I should run away ?
I'll check that other link you gave me... Thanks !
Hallo,
I just want to make sure of something before I buy...
Is it those maps that you are talking about ?
http://www.bayo.fr/cartographie/cartoexploreur/
I already made the mistake of buying one of those : http://www.georando.com/ and I cannot use them in TTQV 4.0... ![]()
Thank you !
Well, I have been looking into it but Global Mapper seems to be too much to understand for me right now... :-?
Bit too complicated for my taste... Now, I am sure that this might be the best technical solution to my needs but I must say that it is way beyond my abilities right now...
I did not succeed in making those 4 maps into a big one using Global Mapper.
I will go back to a low tech solution like using some graphic software to make a big file out of those and recalibrate the results in TTQV...
Thanks for your info...
The point I don't understand then is why those two versions are at the same price on the French webshop... Does not make sense to me...
I saw the differences between regular and Power User but I cannot justify them right now to my "Minister of Finance" !
So I'll settle for the regular version but thank nonetheless for the help you were able to provide me with...
"The check will be in the mail" ! ![]()
(Ok the Credit Card Translation, but that is the same idea...)
