  • Hi,

in case a basic repair of TTQV5 is required, please do the following:
    - restart your PC
    - go C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\All Users\Dokumente\TTQV5_Data
    and delete the file qv5.ini
    - download this file and execute it:
    http://www.ttqv2.de/files5/qv5a_setup_6000.exe
(thus reinstalling TTQV5 using 5.0.6.0 development version)
    - then add this update:
    http://www.ttqv2.de/files5/qv5a_upd_6003.exe
(thus upgrading to 5.0.6.3 development version)

    Then retry connecting your Oregon.

btw. what are you trying to do when connecting your oregon? I think this
Garmin connects in "mass device mode" only to exchange data in *.gpx format?
    Is this right?

Please do a repair again, then:
I still do not know exactly what you are doing (step by step please) to cause this error?
    - you start TTQV5
    - you plug in your Garmin device
.... now, what button or icon do you touch next, exactly, step by step please?

What Windows do you use exactly?

  • Hi,

    GPS online setting

I think GPS online Mode is a little tricky with this device, certainly,
    TTQV5 should not crash.

Basically there are two solutions, you need the "Garmin Spanner Software" on your PC and
connect TTQV to a virtual serial port this software creates.
Or you use a dedicated cable (seems to be some kind of hack) to directly connect the
Oregon to a serial connector at your PC. You need to set your Oregon to "to Garmin Spanner
mode", and answer "NO" to the mass storage question when prompted."

There is a wiki dealing with that stuff:
    https://garminoregon.wikispace…message/view/home/5075415

This device is definitely not ment by Garmin to be used for simple GPS online mode.
I would preferr to get me a simple GPS mouse(not Garmin!) to use with a PC in
    GPS online mode.

  • hi,

    from Garmin web side:
"Spanner is designed to be used with Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Garmin currently does not have any plans to release a version of Spanner compatible with newer versions of Windows."
    I use W7
I have no serial port on my Pc neither my laptop ...

I can't be helped with these 2 solutions and I can't accept the "tricky on line mode" ( I bought TTQV 5 to use it with my Garmin device ) :(

  • Hi Dmx01,

you are lucky that we have the same device at hand now!

GPS-Online mode in TTQV5.0.6.4 works like a charm
under Win7-64 and WinXP, if you....

    - in 400t device settings, system, set the interface to "Garmin Spanner"
    - from the Garmin Website, download the latest Garmin USB driver,
    you find it here:
    http://www8.garmin.com/support/agree.jsp?id=591
    - restart your PC, install the Garmin USB device driver, do this, even
    if you previously installed one.
    - delete the qv5.ini, just in case it is damaged from a previous try
    - plug in your 400t to your PC, the device screen will ask you if to enter
mass storagge mode, the answer is "no"!
    - start TTQV5, activate GPS online mode.
Here the device is detected immediately under WinXP and Win7-64
and shows your position as it should.

You do not need the Garmin Spanner Software, because TTQV5
does not require NMEA signals, but is capable to operate in
    Garmin PVT mode.
