Garmin GPS III plus & altimeter

    Hi,
    anybody knows if my gps can keep track of the altitude.Does'nt say much in the manual.

    GPSIII does not store altitude in the tracklog. If you record a track using
    GPSIII connected to a Palm or PC, this external device can record the
    track altitude if the software running is capable to store it. GPSIII delivers
    the altitude values in NMEA mode as well as in GARMIN/GARMIN mode.
