cassini soldner projection

  • Sorry,
    possible working in CASSINI SOLDNER projection?
    Projection CASSINI is contempled,but is in SFERICAL sistem.
    Possible settlement in CASSINI pro. in ELIPSOID environment?
    This is the rigth way?
    Results is enough accurate to work with a cadastrial maps?

    - what maps do you need this projection for ?
    - what resolution (dpi) and size (pixel by pixel) are these maps?
    - what scale are these maps ?
    - what accuracy are you looking for ?

  • My need is in ITALIAN CADASTRIAL MAPS:
    datum not better specified,but based on BESSEL ELIPSOID 1840.
    Elipsoid oriented on vertical of GENOVA (lat. 44°25'08,235'' lon. 0° azimut 117°31'08,91'')
    Metrical grid originated by local reference (LODI, in this case).
    The maps are available on A3 paper support (i can make scansions in necessary resolution)
    or (maybe) in vectorial digital,not released.
    scales of maps is 1:5000 for A3 (my interest) or 1:2000 for others.
    The real portion of ground showed is about 2 x 1 km by map,but my intention is of cut in two parts (for A4 scanner) and calibrating the map in 2 times.
    Necessary accuracy is 1 or 2 meters (best possible), for the identification of terminals of properties on field (GPS hardware out).
    I to state first: i have a coordinate converter to this coordinates from GAUSS BOAGA-roma 1940 sistem (CARTLAB, free software) but converting point by point,good for calibration ,but not for map projection.

    converter is 'from' cassini sold. 'to' GAUSS BOAGA Roma 1940.

    If I am right, "Cassini Soldner" is nothing but a projection. This projection
    may be the base of the meter grid you are looking for, but there are
    more parameters required to define it.


    - Exact parameters and form of the Cassini Soldner projection in use.
    - Exact parameters of the datum in use with this projection plus the
    respective conversion offsets in comparison to WGS84
    - lon_0, scaling, false easting and false northing of your grid


    Then it may be possible to define such a grid in TTQV3 and to use it
    with your maps.
