I get this error when trying to run the .ecw setup.

Has anyone got a work around for this?

Hi Michael,
if I remember right, there is a bug in the unpacking software
included with this file from ermapper which may cause problems on
some windows installations.
Workaround:
- you must have an unzip software installed
- copy the ecw-acitve... file into a separate folder
- rightclick and your unzip software should give you the option "unzip here" or similar.
- You end up with a bunch of files, one ist "setup.exe", run it.
That´s it.
thanks... but where do i get the ecw-acitve file???
i should have mentioned that i am using the trial. I have no cd to access the file. The files that i have downloaded from internet sources have errors in them.

icluding a workaround as the second message in this thread, and this is all you need and it is in english.
The problem is not a TTQV problem, it is a bug in the installation file as providded by the company "Ermapper", they were informed some time ago but until now there was no reaction.
ok, I have done what you asked. I left moused on the .exe file. , and extracted the files to the folder, and ran the setup. Still no joy, got the same result , with the same error. if any can tell me where to download the workable file, i would be very appreciative. Send it to me in my email a bit at a time, or setup a file transfer.

as long as you are able to extract the file, this file is definitely not
corrupted and there is no need to search for an other one.
If running the extracted setup.exe of this ecw-activeX-control still gives
you an error, there is a problem with your PC/installation in general,
has nothing to do with TTQV.
Restart your PC from scratch, login with administrator rights, close
absolutely all software running in background like virusscanners,
uninstallers....whatever, and try to install again. If this still gives
you an error in installation, you should contact the distributor/creator
of these setup files, which is "Ermapper" at http://www.ermapper.com
maybe they have an idea what´s wrong with your PC.

In English:
Unzip, as explained. Move to setup.exe, right cklick your mouse. Select "properties", select compatibility, now select compatibility modus for windows NT.
