This is simply not true. You can not send whatever rastermap (*.png, *.jpg...)
to whatever Garmin, Magellan, Lowrance....device. This is simply something
people would like to do and so wishfull thinking (talking) about that subject
sometimes leads to strange results. In case somebody tells you it can be
done, ask him if he did it. The answer will always be "no"!

you said "dans le GPS?", but a PDA is not what you usually call "a GPS".
Certainly, as Anton said, you can use whatever recent PPC or Palm
device, whether it is produced by Garmin, HP, Palm....., whether it has an
internal GPS Receiver or an external, install PATHAWAY on the PDA and
export whatever rastermap from TTQV to the PDA. But you can not upload
rastermaps to devices like Garmin ETREX, VISTA, GPS60C.....there is no software to do that.

absolutely no software will upload *.png, *.jpg ...whatever kind of rastermap,
to your MAP60CS. All those Garmin devices (beside the IQUE series, which
are actually PDAs) can only hold maps in a proprietary vectorial Garmin
file format.

PDAs, whether this is the IQUE series from Garmin, or a HP IPAQ or a
PALM Tungsten....whatever devices alike....can work with the Software
PATHAWAY (available for PPC and PALM). TTQV3 can export whatever map
you have imported (is visible in TTQV3) to PATHAWAY. This is how it works.

Hi,
the software included with the IQUE from Garmin side can communicate
with the Garmin PC-Software (Mapsource) only. It is at first point a software
for automated street routing. No rastermaps can be used there, only the
maps provided in Garmin proprietary format.

But this IQUE can also run PATHAWAY and PW can use all maps availble in
TTQV3, if you export them to PATHAWAY. In PW you can manage, create,
waypoints, routes and tracks. However, the software is completely different
compared to the internal software of a GARMIN GPS receiver like the GPS60
series. PW can exchange waypoints, routes and tracks with TTQV3, not with
Garmin Mapsource.

I think, you can only find out by yourself during extensive testing, which
of these possible combinations better serve your needs. I can definitely
not finally advice what would be best for you.

If you depend on using rastermaps, there is definitely no way around
using an optional software beside the software from Garmin included with
the IQUE M5. With a Garmin 60CS, there is no way to upload rastermaps.

Pathaway shows your recent position, there is a moving map mode so you
always see where you ar at. It is a single click to store the recent position
in PW database. Just in case you are interested, for PATHAWAY there is
also a dedicated Forum, hosted by the Canadian developer of PATHAWAY,

If you can get hold of a PPC-PDA (IQUE....) simply download PATHAWAY
and give it a try.
